My Biography
While growing up in Northwest Indiana, Madeline started her musical journey as a pianist who refused to practice and could proudly tune out a metronome during lessons. In sixth grade, she fell in love with a new shiny, round, and loud instrument, the French horn, and hasn’t been able to stop practicing since. She would go on to receive a Bachelor of Music Performance from Indiana University, where she studied both modern and natural horn with Richard Seraphinoff. As an undergraduate at IU during the pandemic, she started teaching her first horn students over Zoom and grew a passion for teaching despite the technical challenges. While at her Master's of Music program at University of Oregon studying with Leander Star, she had the opportunity to serve as the graduate teaching assistant for the horn studio.

Since graduating with her master's, she moved to Vancouver WA, and maintains section horn positions in the Vancouver Symphony and Mid-Columbia Symphony, and performs as a substitute horn for the Eugene Symphony, Newport Symphony, and Eugene Concert Choir Orchestra.
In addition to her performing career, she has been expanding her private teaching studio that includes both horn and trumpet players at both Music World (Battle Ground and Hazel Dell WA) (Music World Link). She is also a regular sectional coach in schools in the greater Vancouver area and enjoys improving tone, technique and musicality in middle and high school musicians.
